not fooled so easily

Yesterday as I was walking along the Seine river I had three different people try to play the same con on me.  Here's how it works.  The scammer has a gold colored ring in his hand, when someone walks by he pretends to find it on the ground.  He then offers it to the person walking by.  Thinking that the ring is probably worth a lot, the victim takes it.  Then the scammer asks for a few euros for his generosity.  Most people don't mind paying a few euros for an expensive gold ring so they pay it and get the ring.  What they don't know is that they just payed five euros for a shiny peace of cheap metal.
